Tom Volts

I asked Tom to join the board, despite having misgivings at the time. He and I had a long-standing disagreement about safety issues related to COB procedures; wherein, he wanted to put someone in the water under sail, and I did not. The compromise was putting a weighted dummy in the water with the boat at anchor.

Tom (and Mark Miglio) also did a lot of work on the technology issues.

Unfortunately, Tom became very angry with me, which puzzled me at the time. He didn't seem to have a problem with Ken's repeated errors in judgment (emailing the general membership inappropriately, reporting lies to the Attorney General, not attending board meetings, harassing me via email, etc.), yet Tom attempted to have me removed from office, apparently because I used the "f*ck you" phrase in an email to Ken Perez, after a long and frustrating email exchange. My bad!

Except for the technology work, he seemed unable to get past his anger and unable to get on with the important business we needed to conduct as an organization.
