The basic first part of the knot... a simple half-hitch.

The basic first loop.

The basic second loop. Note that I hold open the area between the loops and the first part of the knot.

Tuck the second loop inside the bottom of the first loop.

Tidy things up. You're done! The good news is that one pull and you can untie your shoe, and this knot will rarely come undone by itself!
