Russ, to his credit, jumped right into the fire when he joined. One of the first fires he (and I) had to put out was to scramble around to find another place for the keelboats, when Clipper Harbor informed us they were throwing us out. It was pure luck that the crisis was averted (they didn't get a permit approved that they needed).
He told me he was totally frustrated by Ken Perez' odd and aggressive behavior, saying at one point that he thought he had Tourette syndrome, but ended up defending him. At one point, he left me a blistering, unrepeatable message on my answering machine, because I didn't pick up the phone when he called, even though I was unable to answer it because I was in a bad cell area. No apology has been forthcoming.
The SEA board, of course, had nothing to say about this incident nor about other incidents where he apparently treated students in the same fashion.
